Multan Sultan’s all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed was fined five per cent of his match-fee for using inappropriate language during the match against Quetta Gladiators at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Tuesday.

According to PCB, Iftikhar was guilty of a Level 1 breach of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Code of conduct.

Iftikhar violated Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which reads as: “Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a match”.

The incident took place in the third over of Quetta Gladiators’ batting, when Iftikhar was seen using inappropriate language towards the batter who was dismissed.

“Since Iftikhar pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Ali Naqvi, there was no need of a formal hearing,” the PCB said in a press release. “The charge was imposed by on-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Richard Illingworth.”

Earlier, Lahore Qalandars’ Sikandar Raza was fined on Monday for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision.

The Zimbabwe all-rounder was fined 10 per cent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of PSL’s code of conduct.

The incident took place during the Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators game at National Bank Stadium, Karachi, on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, Islamabad United’s pacer Naseem Shah was fined 10 per cent of match fee by the PCB.

The fine had been handed for a level 1 breach of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during the match between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

Naseem had kicked the stumps after the end of Multan Sultans’ innings.
